Description
Formosa Oolong is a classic Taiwanese tea admired for its smooth, sweet flavour and gentle nutty, toasty notes. Often called the champagne of teas, it delivers a refined and comforting cup that suits both new tea drinkers and seasoned oolong lovers. This traditional style comes from Taiwan, formerly known as Formosa, a region celebrated for producing some of the world’s finest oolong teas.
The name “Oolong” comes from the Chinese term Black Dragon. For centuries, it has described teas that sit between green and black tea in both flavour and colour. Formosa Oolong follows this historic method. The leaves are harvested at specific times and only once they reach the ideal size. They then undergo partial fermentation. This process is shorter than that used for black tea, creating a unique balance of freshness, depth and natural sweetness.
The flavour is smooth and mellow. Expect toasty undertones, light nutty notes and a warm sweetness. It can be enjoyed with or without milk, depending on preference. The liquor is amber and aromatic, with each infusion revealing subtle new layers.
To brew, use two teaspoons of leaves and steep in 80–90°C water for 4–5 minutes. Oolong leaves can be infused many times, and each cup offers a new nuance in taste. This tea is ideal for drinking at any time of day.
Store Formosa Oolong in an airtight container to protect its fragrance and maintain freshness. It is a timeless tea with a beautifully balanced character.
